Cincinnati Thought is happy to accept unsolicited essays.
Writers should include with each submission a cover letter giving their thesis, an explanation of why it is an important thesis to argue within the community, and a short biography. Word count should not exceed 5000 words.
Cincinnati Thought does not accept simultaneous submissions or previously published material—including material published online.
The editors will generally decide on your submission within four to six weeks. If you do not receive a decision within four weeks, please send a follow-up query.

Letters to the Editor appear no later than one month after the article being responded to is published. This requires a very tight deadline, with letters due two weeks after the article being responded to is published.
Letters under four hundred words are preferred and they may be edited for length and clarity.

Journal of Cincinnati Thought acquires First Serial Rights for accepted work(s) for print and online publication. Upon acceptance(s) of publication, Journal of Cincinnati Thought retains the right to be the sole publisher of the work(s) for the first year from the initial date of publication. Thereafter, contributors may republish their work(s), with Journal of Cincinnati Thought credited as the initial publisher. Journal of Cincinnati Thought retains the right to re-publish work(s) in online or print publication.
Journal of Cincinnati Thought acquires Digital and Print Rights for accepted work(s) that are posted on Journal of Cincinnati Thought’s website for its online publication. Accepted work(s) will remain published on Journal of Cincinnati Thought’s website indefinitely, until Journal of Cincinnati Thought decides to remove it/them. As stated above, contributors may republish their work(s) after a year, with Journal of Cincinnati Thought credited as the initial publisher.
The contributor confirms that the work(s) submitted is/are their own, the contributor owns the copyright(s), the work(s) are not in violation or infringement of any existing copyright(s) or license(s), and the work(s) submitted have not been previously published elsewhere.
Contributors will retain final say prior to print or online publication in the event that Journal of Cincinnati Thought suggests modifications and/or copy edits. In the event such modifications and/or copy edits are declined by the contributor, Journal of Cincinnati Thought reserves the right to decline publication(s) and withdraw its acceptance of work(s).
The Journal of Cincinnati Thought’s goal is to facilitate community discussion. Hence, the Journal discourages the use of pseudonyms. However, there are particular cases where the use of a pseudonym by an author is acceptable.
